چکیده

The use of coalgebras for the speciication of dynamical systems with a hidden state space is receiving more and more attention in the years, as a valid alternative to algebraic methods based on observational equivalences. However, to our knowledge, the coalgebraic framework is still lacking a complete equational deduction calculus which enjoys properties similar to those stated in Birkhoo's completeness theorem for the algebraic case. In this paper we present a sound and complete equational calculus for coalgebras of a restricted class of polynomial functors. This restriction allows us to borrow some \algebraic" notions for the formalization of the calculus. Additionally, we discuss the notion of colours as a suitable dualization of variables in the algebraic case. Then the completeness result is extended to the \non-ground" or \coloured" case, which is shown to be expressive enough to deal with equations of hidden sort. Finally we discuss some weaknesses of the proposed results with respect to Birkhoo's, and we suggest possible future extensions.

A coalgebraic equational approach to specifying observational structures

A coalgebraic, equational approach to the speci(cation of observational structures allowing for a choice in the result type of observations is presented. Observers whose result type is structured as a coproduct of basic types are considered, and notions of covariable, coterm and coequation, dual to the algebraic notions of variable, term and equation are used to specify the associated structure...

Closed nominal rewriting and efficiently computable nominal

We analyse the relationship between nominal algebra and nominal rewriting, giving a new and concise presentation of equational deduction in nominal theories. With some new results, we characterise a subclass of equational theories for which nominal rewriting provides a complete and efficient procedure to check nominal algebra equality. This subclass includes specifications of lambda-calculus an...

Completeness of Category-Based Equational Deduction

Equational deduction is generalised within a category-based abstract model theory framework, and proved complete under a hypothesis of quantiier projectivity, using a semantic treatment that regards quantiiers as models rather than variables, and regards valuations as model morphisms rather than functions. Applications include many and order sorted conditional] equational logics, Horn clause lo...
